GENERAL
What are the benefits of Riverside Fence professionally installing my cable rail?
We have been in business for over 16 years, and our installed railing systems add beauty and value while protecting your property.
We at Riverside Fence are proud of our team of professional installers, who are all employees and not subcontractors. They are the hardest working people you may ever meet, and will build you a long-lasting fence that you will enjoy for years to come
Our experienced, trained sales staff will help you choose the right cable rail for your project. They will help coordinate the job to be installed in a timely manner and will be there for you if a concern arises. We install top-grade materials from the best manufacturers in our industry. For over 15 years, it has started and ended with service. At Riverside Fence, we always make it right!
What types of warranties and guarantees are available?
We offer a 1-year warranty on labor and materials on cable rail products
The lumber we use for our wood products is of top grade cedar and mahogany materials. However, lumber is a product of nature and therefore, we cannot be responsible for the natural seasoning of the lumber, which may include some warping, cracking, and shrinkage. This is a natural part of the lumber's drying process.
Many factors affect the life of cable rail, such as local climate, proper installation, wear and tear, and proper maintenance. Warranties and guarantees are only as good as the company giving them. We have been keeping our word, backing our products, and honoring our guarantees since 1992!
Can I get a price estimate over the phone?
We don't recommend it. Most companies that give prices over the phone significantly under-price their quote in order to get you "on the hook". Once you commit to the project, the amount required usually goes up. And, if the cable rail system is partially constructed, you are left with little alternative except to pay the higher revised price. Our prices are not quotes, but commitments. Unless you change the size and/or scope of work to be performed, the price given to you is good for 30 days and will not change.
How do I get a free price quote?
Feel free to call our office at 203-210-7447 and set up an appointment for a sales representative to visit you at your home and give you a free quote. Or you can fill out our online form.
What is scheduling like?
Our goal is to have your cable rail installed in 2 - 4 weeks for stocked items and 4 - 6 weeks on special orders. Our waiting list for installations will vary throughout the year. Of course, the spring and summer months are the busiest therefore the wait could be a bit longer.
Factors such as weather can set back our schedule.
To make scheduling as fair as possible for all our customers, we schedule jobs on a first-come first-served basis. We want our customers to be happy with the cable rail they receive, and we refuse to rush through any job.
We survive on word of mouth advertising, meaning our customers' happiness is of the utmost importance. Therefore we highly recommend that everyone plan ahead for that Memorial Day Party or any other upcoming plans. The more notice you give us, the easier it is for us to accommodate your plans. The best time of year to purchase a cable rail with little wait is in the winter months. Riverside Fence has the equipment to allow us to work year around, and the wait will be shorter for the customer. But rest assured that we will complete your job on a timely basis.
Can I have an exact installation date?
We do the best we can to accommodate all of our customers. However, it is nearly impossible for us to give an exact installation date. There are many factors that come into play behind the scenes of your individual installation. First and foremost, if it's raining we cannot run a lot of our equipment due to electrical cords, etc. If we are in a drought and the ground is extremely hard, the digging of the holes will go much slower. We usually have an idea of an exact date a week ahead of your installation. As your date gets closer, our office will call a day or two before to reconfirm the date and make sure it is OK with you. If you think you may have a conflict due to a vacation or anything else that you foresee, please let us know. We will make sure to schedule our work date around your availability.
Is it necessary for me to be home during the construction of my fence?
It would be helpful but not necessary for you to be home when we arrive on the first day of installation so that we can review the placement of your new cable rail system. We are insured and will treat your property with respect. We will need access to water and outside electrical outlets, which shouldn't require the homeowner to be present. If you have pets, arrangements must be made to keep them on a leash or indoors during construction.
How long will it take to complete my cable rail project?
Normally, residential jobs will last anywhere from 2-4 days to complete. Installations can be longer based on job size and terrain.
What do I need to know about local zoning and codes?
Building codes vary by state, county, city, and even homeowner's association. You should contact your applicable town zoning department to determine your exact requirements. Codes may determine placement, height, materials, etc.
Do I need a permit for my cable rail project?
All city and township ordinances vary. It is advisable to contact your local building department to find out the fence requirements.
Does Riverside Cable Rail use concrete when setting posts?
Yes. All of our fences are set in concrete around the sides of the post, and not underneath where water can gather. The hole is dug two and a half feet deep (this is below the freeze line),"belled" out at the bottom, and then the top is back-filled with dirt. The dirt will prevent the concrete from freezing and the "bell" will prevent the post from being heaved out of the ground. Proper installation of posts is critical to a cable rail project. If concrete is not used (or if it is used incorrectly), the fence will never hold up. .
What happens if one of your crew members gets injured on my property during the construction of the fence?
Riverside Fence is fully insured for both liability and workers' compensation. Should a worker become injured, we have taken the necessary precautions to prevent the homeowner from any liability.
